The National Safety Council Prescription Drug Community Action Kit includes strategies to help community leaders can begin taking action now:

  • Engage the medical community to reduce opioid painkiller prescribing
  • Learn about naloxone, an antidote that stops drug overdose and how community distribution immediately saves lives
  • Raise community awareness and engage local media in covering the problem
  • Expand community medication disposal programs
  • Read about Madison, Wisconsin, an NSC safe community and how they are tackling prescription drug overdose in their community
  • Share inspiring stories from survivor advocates who are making a difference in their community

  • Get free fact sheets, engaging videos and educational graphics to educate the community and use for social media
