Health officials push FDA to add ‘black box’ warnings about using opioids, benzodiazepines together

This Washington post article describes the increased risk associated with using opioids and benzodiazepines together. The ‘black box’ message would include labeling for both types of drugs to provide a warning that says using both concurrently “reduces the margin of safety for respiratory depression and contributes to the risk of fatal overdose, particularly in the setting of misuse.”
