CMS Finalizes Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment Changes for 2017

Last week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the removal of the Pain Management dimension of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. The survey questions regarding how patients’ pain was treated in the hospital remain part of the survey; however, their answers no longer have an impact on the hospital’s funding.
